Chesapeake Bay Bass Fishing Report 5 Bass 25 Pounds!
Local Pro Melvin Smitson Baltimore, Maryland With A Chesapeake Bay Largemouth Bass 6/14/14
This Chesapeake Bay bass fishing report is a special report, because it happened to fall on Fathers Day weekend. The BIGGER STORY here is how the Chesapeake Bay seems to be out fishing the Potomac River more often than not these day's!
"Today, the Chesapeake Bay put everyone involved in bass fishing on ALERT! Maryland has good problem on it's hands. Now Maryland has two OUTSTANDING largemouth bass fishing destinations for anglers to choose from while making plans for their next fishing trip. That's definitely a good thing for Maryland! I'm not a rocket scientist, but the largemouth bass on the Potomac River are not shrinking, the largemouth bass on the Chesapeake Bay are just absolutely growing at an above average rate!"
"I think today is the day that really put's how amazing of a fishery the Chesapeake Bay has become into perspective. Today I fished a team tournament with my Dad to celebrate Fathers Day. We put the boat in today at the Turners Creek, Sassafras River. Now, if you told me before I got here. That after a heavy week of rain, morning full of high winds and a full moon the previous night. You were going to give me 3 - 4 foot waves and rolling white caps to start my fishing day. Thrown in your own prediction that I was going to catch over 40 largemouth bass good for 13.88 pounds total and witness first hand 5 bass for 25 pounds to take first place in a competitors boat on the Chesapeake Bay. I would have said, your crazy!"
Turns out that's exactly what happened in todays Delaware Bass Federation Nation open team tournament on the Chesapeake Bay. Rumor has it that three 6 pounders were caught in a row from the first place team that wound up with 5 bass limit and 25 pounds. That's the new good day on the Chesapeake Bay!
