Nanticoke River Fishing Report 4/29/17:
Fishing was good today on the Nanticoke River. My partner and I landed all 5 bites that we had on the line. Unfortunately, none of our largemouth bass were over the required 15'' limit. Delaware Bass Nation hosted this tournament and to my surprise 18 boats showed up. Word on the water is that half a dozen anglers had their 15'' limit in a short amount of time. Official standing reveled that 10 boats out of the 18 had a 5 fish limit (15'' size limit). All very good signs for the health of the Nanticoke River moving forward.
Many of our fish were in the 14 3/4 inch range and were caught in areas with little current that fish are know to spawn. Water temps varied between 69 degrees and 72 degrees depending on the "HOT SPOTS" we were fishing. Water clarity also varied from clear to muddy depending on location. It's my belief that thunder storms and partly sunny skies kept the big fish from biting in our primary spot (Peggies Hole). The fish never turned on for us in there today. By the time we decided to bail and start looking for similar areas it was to late in the day to catch our limit of 15'' keepers.
The 1st place team had 14.45 and big fish was 3.95.
