Rayovac FLW Series Preview Report James River April 28th 2014:

 

Hello Bass Fishing Fans!!! The start of the much anticipated Rayovac FLW Series season is finally upon us. This week the 2014 Rayovac FLW Series is headed to the James River, VA for the first stop in the Northern series division. It's been a cold and snowy winter for much of the north eastern states. Spring weather patterns have only been slightly better in the Mid-Atlantic region. Leaving most anglers scratching their heads while out on the water looking for the right spots to fish and presentations to make.

 

We caught up with professional angler Melvin Smitson who is coming of a 4th place finish in a Potomac River tournament he fished recently for some insight to this weeks James River Rayovac FLW Series tournament.

 

"I got down here to Virginia early Sunday and went out and landed around 20 keepers. Most of them bass were 12'' - 15''. Today was a little better on average with a few 2 lb and 3 lb bass sprinkled in. Today's kicker fish was around 8 lbs so I'm really excited about the quality of bass swimming and bedding in these waters this week. Bass boats are flying up and down the river everywhere looking for hot spots to lock into before the tournament gets here. From what I have encountered on the river so far, it's going to be a challenge to produce a big bag of bass every day but I'm up for it." ~ Melvin Smitson
