Smitson fired up for FLW Everstart On Chesapeake Bay!
Local Pro Melvin Smitson ( Baltimore, MD ) is fired up for this weeks FLW Everstart on the Chesapeake Bay!
"Largemouth bass Fishing on the Chesapeake bay is always exciting. This late summer, early fall weather pattern we are in right now usually brings out the BIGGER Chesapeake Bay largemouth bass. Fishing get's a little slow at times during the transition period but the GIANT bass are currently looking to heavy up on their meals to help'm get through the winter months."
Top anglers can expect to bring in a five bass limit weighing 20 lbs - 25 lb a day when Chesapeake Bay largemouth bass fishing conditions are right. So far pre - fishing tournament anglers have experienced mixed results on the Upper Chesapeake Bay over the past week or two.
"Big fish for each tournament day will probably be around 7 lbs. I just hope it's me that's fortunate enough to anchor my bag of fish with a lunker of that quality."

"Today I had two 4 lb largemouth bass and three 3 lb largemouth bass in the livewell before 9:00 AM. That's great news but trust me when I tell you. 17 lbs the day before the tournament is a nice confidence booster, it just won't be enough to win this FLW Everstart tournament on the Chesapeake Bay. Your going to need to average 4 pounds a bass or have at least one BIG largemouth over 6 lbs each day out to win this event."
The largemouth bass fishing options are plentiful and each angler will have enough diversity to help them do what they do best. If your a dock fishermen ( check ) if your a laydown fishermen ( check ) if your a shallow water fishermen ( check ) if your a rockpile fishermen ( check ) if your a ledge fishermen ( check ) if your a grass bed fishermen ( check ) if your an offshore fishermen ( check ).
Basically, you name it and the Chesapeake Bay offers it. It's no wonder that Smitson has over 20 rods laying on his boat deck all rigged up and ready to go...

If your stubborn on the Chesapeake Bay your in for a long day. Smitson's best advice for first time Chesapeake Bay Anglers. "Read and React. Have a bait tied on for every situation and be fully prepared to throw each of those baits even if it's something you hate to do. Trust your instincts, let the situation tell you where to go and what to throw!" This concludes this edition of my FLW Everstart Chesapeake Bay bass fishing preview report.
