Smitson Qualifies For FLW Championship on Chesapeake Bay!
Local Pro Melvin Smitson Baltimore, Maryland has qualified for the FLW bass fishing league regional championship on the Chesapeake Bay!
"This is exciting news!!! I thought I might have blown my chances of making the top 40 cut to qualify for this championship when I came in 37th place on the Potomac river. I was sitting in 28th place before that event and was worried I could miss the championship. It turns out that I actually moved up 6 places to solidify my 22nd place qualifying spot." ~ Said Melvin
Largemouth bass fishing on the Chesapeake Bay can be very good at times with anglers weighing in bags of fish over 20 pounds on the regular basis. No wonder the Chesapeake Bay is becoming one of the top bass fishing destinations in the country. Fishing is a little off lately but heavy bags are still being weighed in.
"I have had a few nice solid 15 lb plus days recently. The largemouth are spread out right now on the Chesapeake Bay but I'm on to them enough that it will give me a fighting chance heading into the Championship." ~ Melvin Smitson
For largemouth bass anglers that are interested in fishing the Chesapeake Bay you can put your bass boat in at these popular boat ramps and find good fishing close by. Elk Neck State Park ( Elk River ), Turners Creek ( Sassafras River ) or Anchor Marina ( Northeast River )
