Local pro angler Melvin Smitson is all business when it comes to fishing for large mouth bass on the Nanticoke River. Shown here holding onto a 3rd place Delaware Bass Federation Nation trophy while sporting his "LUCKY" Crab Place jersey and newly sponsored Eco Pro Tungsten fishing hat.

In the past few years, the dynamic duo shown above has learned to blend the old school with the new. "For years me and my dad struggled with spring time patterns but now we have narrowed a few things down. It's good that we can get on a roll this early in the season, it feels reel good."

Numbers wise bass fishing on the Nanticoke River has always been up to par with the best fisheries around. Thanks to a nice job by Maryland DNR bass stocking program over the last decade or so. Today, there is even better news for bass anglers looking to write home about their limit.
